FIBRE OF KINGS
Cashmere dates back as early as 1000 BC, however, it wasn't until the 16th century that the industry took off. Under the reign of Zahir ad-Din Muhammad Babur, the art of cashmere weaving developed so rapidly that around 60,000 workers were employed in the northern province of the Indian Empire to extract the precious cashmere fibre.

Once reserved only for royalty, Cashmere earned the nickname "Fibre of Kings"

THE GOAT
Cashmere is combed or sheared from the Cashmere goat during its moulting season, resulting in an exclusive, luxury fabric. The fibres are extremely fine in diameter which is why Cashmere feels so soft. Because the fibre is so fine, the yarn can be spun looser which helps create a plush, luxurious fabric with a silky feel.

It takes between 3-5 goats to knit one average-sized sweater.

WARMER THAN MERINO
Cashmere wool provides excellent insulation and is said to be at least 3 times warmer than merino wool. Cashmere fabric is dense with fibres that are 6 times finer than human hair, keeping you warm in extreme weather.
